Younity continues to grow from strength to strength with Amanda Halka being the latest addition to our Wellington team, having joined the business in mid-April.
Amanda has been actively recruiting in the technology space for over 6 years, starting her recruitment career in in a candidate administration role before moving into a candidate management and then a consulting role for an established technology recruitment agency in New Zealand. Prior to that, she had a long and distinguished career in banking and financial services, having worked for ANZ Bank for over 5 years and JP Morgan Chase for 18 months.
She joins Younity as a Senior Candidate Manager, working alongside Hayley MacDonald, Toni Lake and Andrew Heath and forming a formidable team specialising in placing candidates and contractors into Wellington’s Agile Services, Project Delivery and Business Transformation sector.
To find out a little more about her, here’s Amanda’s story in her own words…
When did you start your recruitment career?
“I started working in recruitment way back in 2015. I had made a decision to leave my career in banking, retraining in Human Resource Management by completing a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies at Massey University. Although I enjoyed my banking years, I was keen to make a move to a more people focused role. Recruitment was a great option!“
Describe your role at Younity – What do you specialise in?
“I’m a recruiter who has worked in both candidate and client focused roles across most aspects of IT. While I haven’t specialised in one particular area of IT, I have always enjoyed working on opportunities within the Project Delivery space. At Younity, I’m working closely with Hayley MacDonald and Toni Lake to source and place great people across the Project Delivery, Agile Delivery and Business Transformation space in the Wellington market.”
What do you love about your job?
“I am definitely a people person. I do not cope well when I am working on my own, so I love that my job allows me to meet new people every day. It is really rewarding to be able to make a match between a great opportunity and a talented candidate who is looking for their next challenge. Being happy in your job is so very important and it is great to think that I can play a small part in supporting a positive change for someone.”
What do you do outside of work?
“I would love to say that I am an interesting outdoorsy person but unfortunately, I’m really not! I love reading a good book, eating great food, and spending quality time with family and friends.”
Why did you choose Younity?
“I had heard really good things about the work environment at Younity, so when an opportunity became available I was very keen to find out more. Whilst I am only in my second week with the business, I can already see how collaborative and supportive the team is, which is great!”
Younity are absolutely delighted to be able to have added someone of the calibre of Amanda into our business!
