Congratulations to Christchurch City Council (CCC) who is the winner of our 2023 Sustainability Through Technology CIO Award!
CCC had stiff competition from Quadrent and One NZ in our ‘Sustainability Through Technology’ category, but their Smart Christchurch programme which trials and creates innovative solutions for their city, came out trumps.
The Smart Christchurch team successfully delivers a programme of initiatives that focus on improving environmental outcomes in the council area and enable better decision-making and response.
For example, responding to a river pollution event, understanding at-risk places after an earthquake, making rubbish collection more efficient, and responding faster and more safely to forest fire events.
Richard Vaughan, Managing Director Younity said that it’s clear we need to find sustainable solutions to help us take better care of our planet and our people.
“This is why we sponsor the Sustainability Through Technology Award. We are passionate believers that technology can play a vital role to help us take better care of our environment and help us find sustainable solutions. With this Award we want to shine a light on organisations who are using technology to drive positive, sustainable change, helping us to build a better future for New Zealand and our next generation of kiwis.”
The winners were announced at the CIO Awards gala dinner on 15 August. The CIO Awards celebrate those individuals, teams and community groups that have demonstrated extraordinary leadership, using technology to make a real impact on the world around them.
