Christchurch City Council
Shout-out to the legends at Christchurch City Council who developed an automated emissions tracker to help them meet their target of zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.🏅

Why is it so cool?
They found a way to overcome the challenges of disparate data sources and now have a tracker that automatically collect, store, convert, and display the monthly information on greenhouse gas emission amounts and its sources in their area.🤩
It’s an accessible tool for the community to visualise the data and see how they are progressing against their targets. Anybody can view the tracker online and they’ve also made the tracker blueprint available to other councils across New Zealand to help them reach their emission goals. Rawe!
Auckland Council
The legends at Auckland Council’s ICT Innovation Team are doing some excellent work to help their community get better sustainability solutions.
This awesome team may be low on budget, but they are high on sustainability outcomes – delivering a range of innovative, effective, and low-cost solutions for their community.
Let’s tell you more about these legends…
They’re on a mission to develop innovative IoT solutions that provide data-driven sustainability outcomes in the Auckland region. They have a range of solutions already in place that helps them to monitor stream pollution levels, help reduce Kauri die-back, and deliver predator trap activation notifications!
They also want to use the data collected for predictive analytics and pay it forward by helping other councils, communities and private organizations make better decisions for the environment.

Computer Recycling Limited
Our third finalist in the Sustainability Through Technology Award is đź“Ł Computer Recycling Ltd!
Computer Recycling Ltd is changing the way we get rid of gadgets in New Zealand and making a huge impact, reducing around 2000 tonnes of e-waste per year! WOW! 🏅♻️
This amazing team lead by Patrick Moynahan sort through tonnes of broken or obsolete IT equipment for reuse or recycling. With the help of the incredible cutting edge Swiss technology, the BLUBOX shredder, this team are slowly making a dent in the 80,000 tonnes of IT rubbish thrown away each year in NZ .EPIC! 🤩
So who are these legends? Based in the heart of Auckland, Computer Recycling Ltd is an electronic waste recycling and disposal centre who specialise in breaking down “anything with a plug”.
The BLUBOX technology was implemented in 2020. An MSS optical sorter, the BLUBOX processes previously un-recyclable e-waste, diverting millions of tons away from the landfills. Nice work team!
The good buggers at Computer Recycling Ltd is on a mission to promote awareness and help customers with the recycling and recovery of IT equipment related to e-waste. 🏆
