We’ve Updated Our Privacy Policy – Here’s What You Need to Know

We've recently updated our Privacy Policy, effective 1 May 2026. Here's a quick rundown of what's changed, why it matters, and what it means for you.

We want to be upfront with you: we’ve updated our Privacy Policy, effective from 1 May 2026.

Whether you’re a candidate, contractor, or client working with us, this update affects how we handle your personal information, so we wanted to take a moment to walk you through what’s changed and why.

Why Did We Update It?

New Zealand’s privacy law has evolved.

The Privacy Amendment Act 2025 introduces new obligations for organisations like ours – particularly around how and when we must notify you if we collect your personal information from third‑party sources.

This includes information sourced via platforms and providers commonly used in recruitment, such as:

  • LinkedIn and SEEK
  • Job boards and sourcing platforms
  • Reference checks
  • Background and probity verification providers
  • Other publicly available or authorised professional sources

We’ve also taken this opportunity to be clearer about who we are as a group. Our brands include Younity Limited, Younity South Island Limited, and Ingenium NZ Limited, and we want you to always know exactly which entity holds your information and why.

What’s Actually Changed?

Here’s a summary of the key updates:

  • Clearer disclosure about indirect collection
We now explain in more detail when and how we collect personal information from third‑party sources, when we are required to notify you, and when a legal exception applies.
  • Your rights, clearly explained
Including your right to access, correct, request deletion of your personal information, withdraw consent to certain checks, or raise a complaint.
  • AI and automated tools
We’ve been transparent about our use of AI‑assisted tools in recruitment. Importantly, a human always reviews any AI‑generated output before a decision is made, and you may raise concerns about AI‑assisted assessments at any time.
  • Cross‑border data handling
We now clearly list the platforms and service providers that may store or process data outside New Zealand, and the safeguards that apply.
  • A dedicated Privacy Officer
You have a clear point of contact for any privacy‑related questions or concerns.

What Does This Mean for You?

For candidates and contractors
Your information is in safe hands. We only share your details with prospective employers with your explicit authorisation, and we’re committed to keeping you informed about how your information is sourced and used throughout the recruitment process.

For clients
Our updated policy reflects our commitment to operating transparently and in full compliance with New Zealand privacy law – something we know matters to the organisations we partner with.
