Younity is proud to announce the launch of our new South Island office in Christchurch, marking a significant milestone in our company’s nationwide growth.
The South Island office will be led by experienced tech recruiter Rachael Tobeck, who has over 14 years of experience in both agency and in-house recruitment roles.
“I am thrilled to welcome Rachael on board, a highly respected tech recruiter who embodies the ethos of Younity. We have long sought to extend our services to the South Island, and finding someone with Rachael’s extensive networks, exceptional client delivery, and seamless cultural fit has been paramount,” says Richard Vaughan, Managing Director of Younity.
“We’ve been searching for the right person to launch our South Island operations,” Richard continues. “Rachael is that person. She not only delivers at a high level and knows the tech scene inside out down south, she also lives and breathes the collaborative, people-first culture we’ve built at Younity.”
Cantabrian Rachael has held several senior recruitment roles in her career as a technology recruiter and is not a newcomer to building a new agency in the South. In 2019 she launched the Christchurch office of the then Dunedin-based Crew Consulting, a position she held for five and a half years.
“I’ve always been intentional about the companies I work for, and Younity felt like the right next step,” says Rachael. “Their reputation for integrity, delivery, and treating people like people, not placements, really stood out to me.”

Rachael is passionate about Canterbury’s tech sector and she has deep roots in the South Island tech community, including serving on the Canterbury Tech Board in 2024, mentoring and speaking at panel events.
“I love working in the tech sector in Christchurch, I think we have one of the most supportive and active tech communities in New Zealand. It’s really great to be part of it and I look forward to bringing the Younity brand to the South Island, and making a positive difference,” she says.
The Christchurch and wider South Island tech scene has seen renewed growth, particularly in agritech, healthtech, fintech, and high-tech manufacturing sectors. Younity is now strategically positioned to support clients across these sectors more closely, with dedicated local expertise on the ground.
“We’ve always supported clients nationwide,” adds Richard. “But having a physical presence in the South Island allows us to be closer to the action and deliver even better outcomes for both clients and candidates. The outlook here is positive, with job growth rebounding especially in agritech and healthtech.”
With offices now in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, Younity is officially a truly national brand and committed to helping drive New Zealand’s tech and digital sectors forward from top to bottom.
