Southern Cross Health Society is the country’s largest health insurer. As a not-for-profit, their commitment to members is paramount. This why over 800,000 New Zealanders don’t just ‘have’ health insurance – they say they’re ‘with’ Southern Cross.
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Southern Cross Health Society moved swiftly to provide support when it was needed most, pledging $50m back to its members and business customers.
Their digital technology team was instrumental in achieving this at pace, helping them to give back and quickly providing economic relief through percentage based premium credits and allowing policies to be put on hold for those who had lost income or experienced financial hardship.
The organisation delivered outstanding social and economic outcomes during a time of real uncertainty.
Southern Cross Health Society demonstrated that sustainability is more than the environment; it is about people, community and doing the right thing in times of need.
The Sustainability through Technology Award at the 2020 New Zealand CIO Awards is proudly sponsored by Younity – Technology, Digital & Business Transformation recruitment specialists with offices in Auckland and Wellington.
